Uninstall Liquid Music + Liquid Rhythm on Windows
Depending on the version history of Liquid Rhythm / Liquid Music installed on your machine, as well as your machine's operating system version history, you may have any of the components listed above in a number of possible locations. To completely cleanly uninstall, be sure to delete any files you find in any of the following locations detailed below. All directory locations listed below will be accessible using Windows Explorer. Note that default installation paths will be listed below. If you installed to a custom directory, please go to it instead for each step.
- Remove the base application.
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and select and uninstall Liquid Rhythm or Liquid Music from the list of installed Applications
- Remove the WaveDNA/LiquidRhythm folder in Program Files.
Version 1.8.0 is fully 64-bit and installs the base application here:
C:\Program Files\WaveDNA
Versions 1.7.0 and earlier install the base application in the 32-bit directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\WaveDNA
Note that Versions 1.7.0 and earlier install here on 32-bit versions of Windows XP / Vista / 7:
C:\Program Files\WaveDNA
- Remove the VST plugins in Program Files.
C:\Program Files (x86)\vstplugins\LiquidMusic.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\vstplugins\LiquidMusic.vst3
C:\Program Files (x86)\vstplugins\LiquidRhythm.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\vstplugins\LiquidRhythm.vst3
C:\Program Files\vstplugins\LiquidMusic64.dll
C:\Program Files\vstplugins\LiquidMusic64.vst3
C:\Program Files\vstplugins\LiquidMusic.dll
C:\Program Files\vstplugins\LiquidMusic.vst3
C:\Program Files\vstplugins\LiquidRhythm64.dll
C:\Program Files\vstplugins\LiquidRhythm64.vst3
C:\Program Files\vstplugins\LiquidRhythm.dll
C:\Program Files\vstplugins\LiquidRhythm.vst3
- Remove the AAX / RTAS plugins in Program Files.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\LiquidMusic.aaxplugin
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plugin-Ins\LiquidRhythm.rtas
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\LiquidMusic64.aaxplugin
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\LiquidMusic.aaxplugin
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\LiquidRhythm64.aaxplugin
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\LiquidRhythm.aaxplugin
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plugin-Ins\LiquidRhythm.rtas
- Remove the Max for Live plugins.
Note that these plugins would only be created by the installer if you have Ableton Live 8+ and an Ableton documents directory.
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Ableton\User Library\Presets\MIDI Effects\Max MIDI Effect\LiquidMusic.amxd
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Ableton\User Library\Presets\MIDI Effects\Max MIDI Effect\LiquidRhythm.amxd
- Remove user data–including config files, logs, and downloaded content.
Note: Your Liquid Rhythm project files might have saved to this location. Please be sure to back up any of your work before deleting them!
C:\Users\<username>\LiquidRhythm
- Remove standalone MaxMSP preference files.
If you have launched the standalone version of the product, this folder would have been automatically created by MaxMSP, which is the application environment we depend on for our audio engine. The second folder will only exist if you have Liquid Music 1.8.0 installed.
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Cycling '74\LiquidLoops Audio Engine Preferences Files
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Cycling '74\Liquid Loops Max 8 Preferences
On Windows XP, the folder structure is different, and you will find the first folder here (the second will not exist as Liquid Music 1.8.0 is not compatible with Windows XP):
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Roaming\Cycling '74\LiquidLoops Audio Engine Preferences Files
On Windows Vista and Windows 8, you will find the folders here:
C:\Users\<username>\Application Data\Roaming\Cycling '74\LiquidLoops Audio Engine Preferences Files
C:\Users\<username>\Application Data\Roaming\Cycling '74\Liquid Loops Max 8 Preferences
There is also the chance that this folder will be hidden. To show the Application Data folder, follow the instructions on this page.
- Remove additional WaveDNA preferences and configuration files and directories.
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\LiquidRhythm
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\WaveDNA
On Windows XP, the two directories are located here (similarly as in Step 6, above):
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Local\LiquidRhythm
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Roaming\WaveDNA
And on Windows Vista and Windows 8 the directories are here:
C:\Users\<username>\Application Data\Local\LiquidRhythm
C:\Users\<username>\Application Data\Roaming\WaveDNA
- Remove cached WaveDNA assets, preferences, and configuration files from your user Home directory.
Note: These directories may be used by other Eclipse-based applications, and though it should be safe to wipe them out (because these assets would be repopulated the next time you used those applications), you may prefer to back these directories up before deleting them.
Note further that if you are using Eclipse for development, your Eclipse preferences may be stored there, so be sure to back those up before performing this step.
